Alphonse Mucha was a defining figure of the Art Nouveau era and is beloved for his images of beautiful women. Cowslip forms the mirror to another of Mucha's artworks, Feather. In both, a woman gazes down at the eponymous object in her hand, though whilst Cowslip shows a brunette, Feather depicts a blonde. Both have the familiar motif of a circle framing the head, which can be seen in many of Mucha’s artworks.
The highly crafted covers are printed on foil paper, embossed then foil stamped, complemented by the luxury binding and rose red end-papers.
